Common Problems with Inkjet Transfers & Their Solutions

Problem #1: Design is cracking after washing

  • Solution: Be sure you are using heavy pressure when pressing
  • Solution: Be sure you are stretching the design during application process
  • Solution: Use high quality transfer paper (JetPro SS is recommended)
  • Solution: Follow correct Care Instructions here

Problem #2: Paper is sticking to my shirt and won’t peel off

  • Solution: Peel the transfer paper off once it has cooled off (“cold peel”)
  • Solution: Be sure you are using heavy pressure when pressing
  • Solution: Press again for a few more seconds with heavy pressure, let it cool, then try peeling again

Problem #3: Design isn’t bright

  • Solution: Be sure printer settings are set to highest quality & matte (if available)
  • Solution: Play around with the saturation and brightness settings in Silhouette Studio

Problem #4: Yellow is being left behind on transfer paper backing

  • Solution: This is normal for some printers and their ink
